Reasons why people think that work at home careers do not work.
Most people don't really think that having a home career is really possible or they have heard of people trying and not succeeding. In most cases, it's not that the opportunity didn't work, perhaps it was that the individual didn't put effort into the opportunity.
Three reasons why people are skeptical:
#1 People are programmed: To Work A 9-5 JOB
Think about this... Most people's minds are programmed to work a 9-5 job, and in most cases live check to check. Because their parents, friends, neighbors and anyone they know works a 9-5 job, they think it is the only way to make income.
I think of an outside job like a fixed income, because you know what you are making from week to week. People go to their jobs and all they are doing is making someone else richer. One thing, I didn't like about working for someone else was the rules. You have to ask permission for time off. You can't go to work late or you may get in trouble. If you make an error, make personal calls or send personal emails, you would get reprimanded. My favorite part of working a job was I would work very hard all year long to get a 3%-5% raise. It was amazing that when you did something wrong the boss would point it out, but when you did something good they never appreciated your efforts.
It boils down to this... You go to work to make someone else richer, follow their rules, take orders, get reprimanded and never get paid what you are worth. THAT STINKS! Why do people think they have to settle for this? They settle for this because their brain is programmed to think that this is what they are supposed to be doing in life.
#2 People are programmed to look for fast money.
People wanting to work from home are attracted to the following:
1. Get Rich Deals -
Wanting to work from home but looking for a quick buck. When you talk with people that are desperate to work from home, you find they are looking for the fast buck and looking to get rich fast and they are more likely to fall into scams and be taken for their money. Ads like.. Make $10,000 tomorrow. Opportunities that are not real and the money are not realistic.
2. Looking for the simple opportunity and getting paid -
Most people want to work from home with something simple. Either it would be something entry level or something where they think they will make money by not doing anything. It maybe one of the these types of opportunities, envelope stuffing, assembly, typing, and data entry.
3. Scams - People are attracted to scams. WHY? I have no clue. Maybe because they sound appealing to get the fast buck or maybe simple. BUT it is obvious something is a scam and people are more likely to invest their money into a scam without checking out the company first. This is very common! I think of people being attracted to scam which is a bad thing like a teen-age girl being attracted to a bad boy. We know it is bad but it makes us even more curious and we do it.
#3 People are programmed: To Be Closed Minded
People are programmed to be closed minded to work from home opportunities. I can not tell you how many people I talk too who shut down the idea of a home based business.
You hear people say, "I want to work from home, but I don't want a home based business." You will find many people don't even know what a home based business is. They think it is investing a lot of money and starting something from scratch or it is probably a scam if it is with a company.
People also think that investing money into something to work from home is a scam. Because you have to pay a start up cost in most cases; they say it is a scam. They will be more likely to say..."I shouldn't have to pay money to work for someone or a job." That is correct, you should NEVER pay a fee to work a job like typing, data entry or any other job. BUT a home based business is not a job, it is a career or something of your own. There is no way you can open a business without investing money, right? Well, it is the same concept, you cannot start a home-based business without investing something. You are investing into your future and in your career.
After several years, I figured it out. We will never get ahead by working for someone else. So that inspired me to go and build something for me and my family. I'm so glad I did! I have been happily working at home for 6 years and make 10 times more than I can ever imagine.
If this stay at home mom with no college degree nor business degree can make a multiple 6 figure income, don't you think you can too?

Work at Homje jobs - - Advantages & disadvantages
Advantages:
* You get paid a steady, guaranteed income for as long as you are employed with the company and do your job.
* If an employer chooses to hire you, training you is part of your job. You're paid to learn the necessary skills.
* You have a specific set of tasks and responsibilities. You know what's expected of you.
* Most employees only have to work a certain number of hours per week. If you work more, you are generally paid overtime wages.
Disadvantages:
* You must answer to a boss or supervisor and ask for permission for time off. They tell you what to do, when to do it, and often how to do it too. You may not actually have the flexibility that's assumed when you work at home -- you may still have to work 'regular' hours and be available to your coworkers and boss.
* Job stability depends on your employer. Layoffs are not at all uncommon.
* Competition is extremely fierce. Although you *can* find work-at-home jobs online, most of them are offered to current employees with proven track records.
* Your income is decided for you by your employer. You are paid a certain amount to do your job, and any raises you earn are also decided by your employer.
* Employers can be very choosy; there are loads of people who want to work from home. Thus some may offer less than competitive wages, or fewer or no benefits at all.
HOME BASED BUSINESS - ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
Advantages:
* You are your own boss. You make the decisions, and answer only to business and to your customers. You can work from the comfort of your home often in your pajamas if you choose. You can work the days you want and the hours you need. Most moms LOVE working on their schedule.
* Income potential is unlimited! You're not restricted to how much the boss decides you'll make. You ARE the boss!
* You can exercise your creativity and independence. You decide on the type of business you want, in an area for which you have a passion. Business can be FUN, and you have the opportunity to make it "yours"!
* You have the opportunity to pursue your "dream". You may have a vision that you'd like to see achieved - now you can give it a try!
Disadvantages:
* You are your own boss. Yes, this can be perceived as a negative as well as a positive! You have the ultimate responsibility for the success of your business. However, if you sign up with a company that has support and training, you will never feel alone.
*You must take the time to work at the business or you will not see the additional income that you desire.
* You need to be determined, efficient and organized to be successful. It can be very easy to let your business slide when you are tired or feeling discouraged. However, if you are aware of these temptations, you can create a plan to overcome them when they arise.
It takes all types of people to run the world... not everyone is meant to own a home based business, and not everyone will flourish when working a job. Decide what's right for *you* - and then set out to achieve it.

Scams, I'm afraid of them. What is your advice on how to find if the company I want to sign up is legitimate?
1. RESEARCH THE TYPE OF BUSINESS YOU WANT TO JOIN THOROUGHLY
Online business is hard work, make no mistake about it, and requires investment of time and a period of learning.
2. INVESTIGATE THE COMPANY YOU WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH
Make sure you have all relevant information about the company - its location, telephone number, street address, whether it is registered to do business.
3. TALK TO SOMEONE ON THE PHONE AND ASK QUESTIONS
Don't settle for FAQs on the website, you'd be surprised to find out just how many cannot be reached at the phone numbers they have given. If you can't talk to then before you sign up, you most likely will not be able to get hold of them when something goes wrong and you need help.
4. DON'T COMPROMISE ON A MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE
If they don't offer one, run!! They don't intend to give you your money back.
5. USE YOUR CREDIT CARD FOR PAYMENT OF SERVICES
Comes in handy when you try to get your money back. Your credit card company will get your money back for you if they fail to honor their money-back guarantee.
6. AVOID SCHEMES THAT PROMISE HUGE SUMS OF MONEY IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME
It is almost always a scam. Don't let your need or greed get the better of you.

The Top Four Home Business Scams
While most of us yearn to own a successful work from home business, the sad reality is that most of us will never actually see it happen. More small business opportunities exist today than at any other point in recent memory. By the same token, there have never been more scams floating out there which makes it hard to find the legitimate opportunities. It seems like everywhere you turn these days there is some ad claiming to solve all of your financial problems with a work from home opportunity or other. There are literally so many scams out there in the work from home business genre that it is nearly impossible to avoid being hooked by one. Here are the top five scams being used by con artists and shady businesses in the work from home genre:
Crafts
Envelope Stuffing
Computer Scams
Medical Billing
Pyramid Schemes
Do you enjoy fixing things, sewing, or other craft-like activities? One of the biggest work from home opportunities out there are companies looking for people to build their products out of their homes and then sell them for profit. You may hear some different details and perhaps bolder promises, but this is your standard mini-factory small business scam sales pitch. The whole point of this is to get the investor to purchase costly equipment and materials. The purpose here was only to sell the investor over-priced equipment and the companies avoid buying the products in most cases by claiming inferior standards.
This probably comes as no shock to many, but yes, the envelope stuffing business is another scam. The catch: Its going to cost you and it isn’t anything like you think! You would think this business boiled down to stuffing envelopes but investors actually recoup their money by placing envelope-stuffing business opportunity ads of their own! This is basically the scam that just keeps on giving, because if you want your money back after investing in this gem, you need to spend more money on advertising to then con others out of their cash!
Knowing that everyone has a computer and Internet connection these days, con artists have created several work from home scams to capitalize on this proliferation. The variations are abound in the computer work from home genre, but the two most common involve data entry and word processing scams. To get the ball rolling, all you need to do is submit a small fee. In return, the investor will likely get some long-winded report about all the opportunities out there, but nothing they can actually use to earn a living. This scam amounts to a lot of big promises but fails to deliver any concrete plan, job, or even a true plan to make any money.
One of the more recent small business scams involves the health care industry and ways to supposedly help fill a worker shortage. Promising to teach you how to start small businesses in medical billing and even electronic insurance claim processing, these companies appear to be selling a legitimate service aimed at filling a true market need. Investors are often required to pay “franchisee” and other fees that can cost thousands for most programs.
And while the investment should be wise and ultimately net the investor a profitable work from home medical billing business, this is rarely the case for the majority of people. Government oversight committees like the FTC have issued warnings to consumers about these types of home based businesses, citing low probability of attaining work or making sustainable income. Success is such a low probability with these home based medical billing programs that they should be considered as scams by anyone looking to hold on to their money.
Where home based business scams are concerned, these five are hardly the only ones you need worry about. There are literally thousands of variations on these scams, plus new ones being invented every single day. We have never seen such a proliferation of scams in our lifetime. but history has never recorded so many legitimate small business opportunities either! The best way to capitalize on the legitimate opportunities is to know how to spot and avoid scams.
